“Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.”
― Voltaire (1694 – 1778)
Written in the 1700s, Voltaire’s simple statement that those who can deceive us into believing lies can make us commit evil is a most apt description of our current political reality. These twelve words sum up precisely what has happened to America since 9/11: Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.
Because it so perfectly describes our post-9/11 predicament, Voltaire’s comment deserves to be presented within the context it was written:
Certainly anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices.
If you do not use the intelligence with which God endowed your mind to resist believing impossibilities, you will not be able to use the sense of injustice which God planted in your heart to resist a command to do evil.
― Les Philosophes. The Philosophers of the Enlightenment and Modern Democracy, Norman Lewis Torrey, Capricorn Books, 1960)
What makes the Voltaire comment so appropriate in describing our post-9/11 reality is that it points out very clearly that those who have deceived us did so with every intention of making us commit atrocities – or injustices – such as the fraudulent War on Terror. Those who have not used their intelligence to resist the 9/11 deception have allowed themselves to become agents of evil by enabling it to continue. The only power a deception has, after all, is the power of those who believe it.
On the other hand, those who have deceived us are guilty of very serious and prosecutable crimes, including the highest war crime: planning and conspiring to wage a war of aggression. Since the day it happened we have been fed a pack of lies about 9/11 in order to get us to accept illegal wars of aggression waged under the pretext of fighting terrorism. This is the subject of my latest book, The War on Terror: The Plot to Rule the Middle East.
The absurdity we have collectively been made to believe is that Osama bin Laden and a band of nineteen Muslims are responsible for the death and destruction of 9/11. This is the central lie of our time, which, in spite of abundant evidence exposing its falseness, has been pushed and supported by the government and controlled media since September 11, 2001. While we may not know every detail about how the 9/11 atrocity was carried out, we know full well that we have been deceived purposefully about what really happened. We also know who is behind the government and media lies that have been pushed on the public from the beginning. Many of the culprits in this massive deception are identified in my book, Solving 9-11: The Deception that Changed the World. A criminal investigation in which media moguls and government officials are held accountable for lying us into war would quickly unravel the mystery and expose the secret network behind this massive fraud.
The 9/11 lie is the keystone of the fraudulent War on Terror, a string of unjust military operations we have been tricked into accepting in the aftermath of the terror attacks. The congressional authorization passed in the aftermath of 9/11 giving the president carte blanche freedom to use military force has been exploited since 2001 to carry out military operations in dozens of countries against people that had absolutely no connection to the terror attacks in New York City or Washington.
President Trump said that the post-9/11 wars and military interventions have cost the U.S. seven trillion dollars and given us nothing in return, but for his part he has yet to pull U.S. forces out of any of these costly wars after more than two years in office. During Trump’s first year in office the U.S. and its sixty-some allies virtually destroyed two cities: Raqqa in Syria and Mosul in Iraq – in the name of fighting ISIS terrorists.
The Trump White House is currently threatening to expand the War on Terror by waging a war of aggression against Iran after having branded its military as a terrorist organization. Although there is no real U.S. interest in waging war against Iran there is always the possibility that a false-flag attack carried out by Israel or Saudi Arabia could lead to war. There have already been reports from Rupert Murdoch’s media outlets blaming Iran, without any evidence, for four sabotaged ships and a mortar shell fired into the Green Zone in Iraq.
After being deceived into fighting costly and unnecessary wars in the Middle East since 1990, one would think that Americans would be protesting the pointless wars that have robbed the nation of so much of its prosperity. If we are to ever realize our hopes for peace and prosperity we will need to remember who has deceived us into perpetual war by covering-up the truth of what happened on 9/11 – and hold them accountable.
